About the author

Hello, I am the author of Views Across the Pond. I am a British woman who has an interest in American and British Politics and current affairs. This blog is a reflection of that interest.

I have long had an interest in American Politics and am involved in politics back at home.  I started this blog because it wasn’t just enough to put a view on the Huffington Post’s comment board (example) – I wanted to write more – to expand with my own view and research on news and current affairs.  Although this is still a both sides of the pond blog, my interest and articles are mainly about American news – the political system in America is very fascinating.  A free society with a media system so deeply intwined in politics – not just reporting on it, but a part of it – for example, Fox News, what many now consider the mouth piece of the Republican Party.  Not that they are the only ones, nor the only side of the political aisle that does that.

I have watched in wonder for the past two years during the Obama years, whilst a change has swept America and not all of it good.

My writing style could be described as a feature article per blog post – I try to write high information pieces taking a longer look at a certain story of the day or week, so if you are kind enough to stop by, grab a cup of coffee and get comfy.

I enjoy debate but at the same time ask civility remains. I hope you enjoy reading and I welcome your views on my posts.

Outside of blogging I work in media – paper, digital and music. I am married and live with my husband and our cat Willow. I am a member of the Liberal Democrats in the UK. I am also a member of the Unite union.

Thank you for taking the time to read the site and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and join the Facebook group.
